Ted Talk Review: How to Achieve Your Most Ambitious Goals

Title: How to Achieve Your Most Ambitious Goals

Speaker: Stephen Duneier

Date and Location: Posted Mar 6, 2017, Tucson, AZ

Key Takeaways:

  1. The biggest goals are achieved with small, dedicated amounts of time.
    • He was able to knit and crochet large pieces of fabric just by working on them in small increments of time.
  2. Work on your goals in the time that might have been wasted.
    • Duneier learned German just by listening to German language tapes instead of music on his work commute.

ADHD Friendly Tip:

Pick just ONE of your goals to work on.

It’s tempting to try to work on all of your goals at once, like writing a book, starting a Youtube Channel, or training for a marathon. Do NOT do this. You will get burnt out and discouraged. Pick the goal closest to your heart and work on that.

I’m currently working on this blog in any spare moments I can find. I’m writing blog posts, creating Instagram content, and taking blogging classes in the five to ten minute blocks of time I have when my baby is napping or during my lunch breaks.

Find the goal that you’d like to achieve first, and work on it in whatever spare moments you have. It might take a little bit of planning to figure out just how to work on it, but five minutes at a time, you’ll be able to achieve your highest goals.
